What We Heard

The Central Station engagement program was launched by the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Andrew Constance, on 15 September 2016 and concluded 30 November 2016.

Central Station will be an even more important interchange with new Sydney Metro and Light Rail services coming online within a few years. This means we have an opportunity to reimagine the Central Station Precinct, as a destination in itself, with new civic spaces, meeting places, shops, restaurants and cafes.

The Reimagining Central Station Engagement Program Outcomes Report outlines the opportunities we offered during the two month consultation program and summarises valuable feedback from customers, stakeholders and the community.

Customers love the heritage feel of Central Station and they want to see this maintained in future designs. Customers, as well, want better connections to, from and around Central and they asked for more vibrant community spaces. They want to see more cafes, restaurants and retail stores feature in the Central of the future.

You can read the ideas of the many participants in our two month engagement program here.
