Mascot Station Access Upgrade Project

Program overview

Over the next ten years the More Trains, More Services program will simplify and modernise the rail network, creating turn up and go services for many customers. The current stage of the program will deliver improvements for the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line, South Coast Line and T8 Airport & South Line.

What are we doing at Mascot Station?

Planning is underway to improve access and enhance pedestrian flow in and around Mascot Station.

Key features include:

  • a brand new entrance/exit on the western side of Bourke Street
  • escalators and a lift to the paid concourse
  • additional ticket gates.

Project update

Transport for NSW is working with key stakeholders to develop a concept design for the access improvements. Site surveys and geotechnical testing will be undertaken in June to inform the concept design.

Next steps

Once a concept design has been finalised a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) will be prepared. The REF is a planning document outlining the proposed work, potential impacts and mitigation measures. The document includes comprehensive assessments on the existing environment and expected impacts of the project including traffic and transport, visual impact, noise and vibration, and heritage.

We will keep the community informed about opportunities to provide feedback on the plans when the REF is placed on public display.

Please contact the project team projects@transport.nsw.gov.au if you would like to subscribe to the email distribution list for this project.

Construction will only start once all approvals have been finalised and a determination on the Project has been made by Transport for NSW.
