As part of the More Trains, More Services program, planning is underway to extend the platform canopy at Arncliffe Station.
The extended canopy will increase weather protection and encourage customers to use the full length of the platform, reducing crowding at busy times.
Work we are doing to improve the station for customers and our staff:
extending the canopy to cover almost the entire length of Platform 3 and 4
additional CCTV and lighting for improved safety and security
more customer seating along the platform
additional digital information boards and PA system to keep customers informed about departing train services in real time.
Next steps
Preliminary investigation work took place in August 2020 to help inform the design of the extended canopy over the coming months, ensuring that it complements the heritage architecture of the station.
Subject to planning approval, construction is expected to begin in early-2021 and is expected to be complete in late-2021.
We will work with local communities as the project progresses and keep them informed of the next steps.
