Bellambi Platform Extension Project

Transport for NSW acknowledges the Dharawal people as the traditional custodians of the Illawarra and pay our respect to Elders past and present.

What are we doing at Bellambi Station?

We are making the platforms longer at Bellambi Station to make it easier for customers to board and alight the New Intercity Fleet called Mariyung. The new 10-car trains will provide an improved level of comfort and convenience for intercity customers. For more information please visit our Mariyung Fleet page.

Work we are doing to improve the station for customers and our staff:

  • extending the southern end of Platforms 1 and 2 by about 55 metres to accommodate the longer fleet of intercity trains and provide access for customers to all carriages of the train
  • relocating the platform fences, stairs and gates to the end of the newly extended platforms
  • improving safety on the platforms by upgrading lighting, closed circuit television, public announcement systems, tactile paving and line marking as required by the platform extension
  • realigning and installing new overhead wiring and signalling equipment so the new trains can operate safely and efficiently.

Keeping you up to date

We are committed to integrating sustainable practices into our projects and reducing environmental impacts.

After May 2023, we will no longer be distributing hard copy notifications to residents on this project unless requested.

Instead, we will be providing construction updates by email.

If you would like to be emailed project updates please contact us on 1800 684 490 or email projects@transport.nsw.gov.au.

If our work is anticipated to directly impact your property and we do not have your contact details, we will distribute a paper notification to your address to ensure you are aware of upcoming activities.

Keeping our work sites safe

We are continuing to deliver projects across New South Wales while ensuring the safety of all staff and the community. All work will be carried out in line with current NSW Government Public Health Orders and Restrictions which are subject to change.
