Have Your Say - Airport Precinct Safety and Access Program

The Airport Precinct Safety and Access Program (APSAP) is investigating potential short-term safety and access improvements to the existing road network in the Western Sydney Airport Precinct.

The improvements being investigated under this program will improve the current road network which is already experiencing increased traffic while longer-term road network in the precinct is planned and delivered.

WHAT WILL THE PROGRAM INCLUDE?

The program is investigating small-to-medium road improvements that will make the road safer, reduce congestion, or improve access to important locations in the Precinct.

This could include improvements to line-marking or safety signage, changes to intersections (e.g. installation of traffic lights or a roundabout, adding in extra turning lanes), or repaving parts of the road.

Major road upgrades (e.g. widening a road along its whole corridor) and routine road maintenance works (e.g. filling in pot holes) are not within scope of this program.

BACKGROUND

We are creating one of Australia's largest infrastructure and city shaping programs, the 11,200-hectare Western Sydney International Airport Precinct, which will transform the area into a thriving cultural, social and economic hub.

With so much work underway and the high rate of growth within the Precinct, there has been significant impact to the existing road network, which was originally designed to support a rural community.

The existing road network consists of narrow, winding roads that will become unsuitable over time due to the increasing traffic volumes caused by the construction of the Western Sydney International Airport (WSIA), development of new neighbourhoods, and transition of rural areas into urbanised communities.

As a result, the road network will become increasingly congested, so Transport for NSW is working on improvements to ensure safety, reliability, and accessibility to support the growing community.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

We want to hear your feedback about how safety and access could be improved on current roads in the Airport Precinct. After we receive this feedback, we will look at the suggestions and work out how we may be able to address issues raised. You can fill out the survey below or drop a pin on the interactive map to provide your feedback on potential improvements which could benefit the community.

Please note this consultation does not focus on reporting pot holes or road maintenance suggestion. If you want to report pot holes, please visit this link - Report a pothole or damaged road | Service NSW.
