Key features of the A/REF include:
A northern underpass which connects Noorumba Reserve to Glen Lorne Reserve.
An interim southern underpass which connects Beulah to Browns Bush Reserve.
Monitoring technology of the underpasses to provide information on their use and effectiveness.
Fauna fencing at Noorumba Reserve and Beulah Reserve and the length of Appin Road.
The underpasses have been designed to encourage koala use and will include large logs leading into the underpasses, drainage to keep them dry, natural lighting and flooring.
The proposed underpasses and fauna fencing align with the State Government’s position on koala corridors as part of the NSW Chief Scientist and Engineers advice on the protection of the Campbelltown Koala population. They will involve minor construction impacts to the surrounding area.
Subject to planning approval, construction is expected to commence in early 2023 and take up to 6 months to complete.
