TfNSW operates 111 fixed speed camera locations across NSW. Locations are selected, and their effectiveness is measured, in accordance with the NSW Speed Camera Strategy.
TfNSW’ commitments within the Strategy include reviewing and relocating fixed speed cameras not showing a road safety gain.
Speeding contributes to about 40 per cent of road deaths and is the leading factor in death and injuries on our roads.
Fixed speed cameras are used at high-risk locations to reduce the risk of crashes, road deaths and serious injuries.
Speed cameras have been proven to save lives. Across NSW, fatalities have fallen by 74 per cent and injuries have decreased by more than a third at locations where fixed speed cameras operate.
The fixed speed cameras located at the four locations listed below have been identified for a more comprehensive review:
Hungry Head
Valla Beach
Brogo
Burringbar
Your feedback, along with crash data and other road safety information, will help determine whether the cameras are de-commissioned, moved to a different location or retained as is.
Please note that the feedback period closes Sunday 19 September 2021.
