The NSW Government is replacing the previous ferry wharves at La Perouse and Kurnell as part of the Kamay Botany Bay National Park, Kurnell Master Plan.

We have partnered with specialists from the University of NSW (UNSW) and local Gamay Rangers to implement the Marine Biodiversity Offset Strategy (MBOS) – a strategy to ensure no net marine biodiversity loss in Botany Bay as a result of the construction of the wharves.

This work includes Posidonia australis seagrass translocation, rehabilitation and monitoring activities.

You are invited to an online community forum session where we will deep dive into this work with the UNSW as a guest speaker, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.

We are committed to building the Kamay Ferry Wharves safely and as efficiently as possible so that we limit impacts to the community. Our contract partner, McConnell Dowell, is proposing to extend Saturday work hours at both sites so that we can maximise our workers’ time and equipment. This will allow us to complete some of our work activities faster and minimise overall disruption to the community.

While we are extending work hours, we will ensure that the noisiest piling work continues to stop at 1pm.

We are asking residents and businesses nearest to the wharf construction at La Perouse and Kurnell for their agreement to extend our regular working hours on Saturday from 1pm to finishing at 6pm:

    • Current work hours: Saturday from 8am to 1pm
    • Proposed extended hours: Saturday from 8am to 6pm.

We would like to implement these additional working hours from Saturday 11 November 2023 for a period of approximately eight months. Please note that we wouldn’t work these extended Saturday hours over the holiday period between 23 December 2023 and 7 January 2024.

During the extended hours we would carry out our normal work activities, except for the noisier impact piling which would continue to stop at 1pm. In general, we anticipate the noise level would remain the same as current weekday levels or be reduced. There will be no additional vehicle or truck movements during our extended work hours. Workers will park inside the construction site and not on Anzac Parade.

This online form is designed to collect your feedback on our proposal. One response can be provided per property/residence. Please provide your response by 5pm Friday 20 October.
