The Australian and New South Wales Governments are jointly investing $8.5 million for planning a vital infrastructure upgrade to deliver a formalised off-road Heavy Vehicle Rest Area (HVRA) on the Golden Highway at Sandy Hollow.
The Sandy Hollow project will provide a safe and convenient rest location for heavy vehicle drivers in the township, supporting improved road safety, fatigue management, and amenity for the local community.
The project will provide an off-road heavy vehicle rest area on the northern side of the Golden Highway at Sandy Hollow.
Key features of the rest area include:
Safe off-street parking bays for heavy vehicles
A dedicated toilet facility for drivers
Improved pedestrian safety and town amenity
